Studio Lantai is a team of two designers, a site supervisor and a regular group of subcontractors working mainly on pre-war shophouses in George Town and Balik Pulau. A typical job covers layout, kitchen zoning, lime plaster repair, terrazzo or cement tile flooring, built-in counters and lighting.
For premises inside the heritage zone, the studio prepares drawings and paperwork for local council approval, which usually adds six to ten weeks before work starts. They take on around eight projects a year and prefer clients who have already signed a tenancy.
