Sweet, salty and thick soy sauces brewed in Batu Pahat, in bottles, 5 litre jerry cans and 20 litre drums for kitchens.
Kilang Kicap Leman ferments soybeans in clay and fibreglass vats behind the family house in Batu Pahat, then blends the liquor into kicap manis, kicap masin and a thick caramel kicap pekat. The recipes have changed little since the 1970s, though bottling moved to a small semi-automatic line in 2016.
Mamak restaurants, nasi ayam stalls and caterers across Johor buy in 5 litre jerry cans and 20 litre drums, and a few Klang Valley restaurants take monthly pallets. Private label bottling is offered to hawkers who want their own kicap for retail, from 300 bottles.
